Intent

Through our F.A.M.I.L.Y values combined with a broad and balanced PSHE curriculum, we develop our pupils’ knowledge, skills and attributes to support them to live a healthy lifestyle, with positive and strong relationships. We provide children with approaches to support them understand their emotions and mental wellbeing. We aim that all children will leave St Andrews Benn as a resilient, well rounded and confident individual, that will be able to confidently deal with whatever life throws at them and be a valuable citizen in our world.
Implementation
Using our Key Lenses and Big Questions, PSHE at SAB revisits our key Threads : (protective behaviours, dreams and goals, celebrating differences, relationships and changing me)
throughout every phase, ensuring that substantive & disciplinary knowledge is progressively sequenced for each of our core Concepts ( Keeping safe, relationships, identity, aspirations, change) so that children know more, remember more and make meaningful connections across their primary school journey.
Teaching is delivered through our six Core Components (Oracy, Retrieval, Modelling, Active Engagement, Progress for all, Feedback) where we provide children with multiple enrichment experiences, including experiences to talk to professionals in fields relevant to the Thread and context being studied.
Lenses: Action & Consequence, Change & Continuity, Significance, Similarities & Differences, Environmental & Sustainable Citizenships, Spirituality
Threads: protective behaviours, dreams and goals, celebrating differences, relationships and changing me
Concepts: Keeping safe, relationships, identity, aspirations, change
