Parking at School

Dear Parents

Over the last couple of weeks we have had a growing number of complaints about parents/relatives parking on the zig zag lines on Abbey Street.  Only this morning someone has emailed to say that:

“Today dropping my daughter off at school I witnessed at least 4 cars park on the lines within 5 minutes”.

Under no circumstances is anyone allowed to stop/park on the zig zag lines, this includes blue badge holders.  The zig zag lines are there for a reason and the main reason being to protect your children.

We understand the entrance on Abbey Street is small for the amount of children and adults that use it, which is why we opened Hunter Street for pedestrians to try and relieve the amount of people using it.  Understandable this often creates a bottleneck of people which spills out onto the pavement which inevitably sometimes means that a child or adult may need to step into the road.

We have sent out texts and tweets asking parents not to park on the zig zags, but this does not seem to work, therefore we are asking for parents to contact 0333 999 3332 to report anyone parking on the zig zags.  We will also be asking for the CEO to have a visual presence and to issue penaltys as necessary.

We thank all those parents that do follow the regulations, and we that all parents receiving this letter ensure that anyone that brings their child to school has also read it.

If you have any queries, please contact the school office.

Thank you for your cooperation with this important safety matter.

Yours sincerely
