Greek Day

Years 4 and 5 are currently studying the ‘Ancient Greeks’ as their Humanities and Art topic this half term, and as always we have thought how we could enrich their learning.

With this in mind, we have decided to hold an Ancient Greek day in school on Wednesday 9th April. We have booked Portals to the Past, a professional workshop company to come in and run a whole day workshop with several activities for the children to take part in. All Portals Greek workshop leaders have appeared in the BBC’s “Horrible Histories”, many feature films and historical documentaries and work in schools and museums around the country.

We would like the children to try to come into school on that day in an Ancient Greek themed costume. Ideas will be supplied on a separate sheet on costume design. We will be creating shields in school during art lessons and would be grateful if the children could bring in large pieces of cardboard to resource this.

There will be a charge of £5 for each child for the day which we feel offers excellent value for money for the activities the children will be taking part in. Keeping the activities within school has allowed us to keep the cost for an excellent days learning down to a minimum. Unfortunately if we do not receive enough payments, the day will not be able to take place.
