Computing

Subject Leader: Mrs L Hughes

Computing influences every sphere of our lives and its use is continually evolving. It has deep links with Mathematics, Science and Design and Technology, and equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. We are lucky to have a Computing Suite to deliver lessons in, in addition to the tablets, laptops and interactive whiteboards available in each classroom.

The core of computing is Computer Science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, and how digital systems work. We use Purple Mash, provided by Warwickshire to explore this. We aim for all of our children to leave us as responsible digital citizens who display our values when using technology. To achieve this we use CEOP, Rising Stars and Project Evolve resources at the start of every half term with the children, as well as take part in annual online safety events. We are working to achieve the Online Safety 360 mark and our Online Safety Ambassadors have been established in Years 2 to 6 to support the work needed to achieve this. Children are taught about Information Technology in order to use it both at home and school to share and communicate effectively via programs on PCs and apps on tablets.
